SUMMERFIELD, NC :: Late Model rookie Bobby McCarty is hoping to make his first trip to Martinsville Speedway a successful one in Sunday’s Virginia is for Racing Lovers 300. McCarty feels he has a good chance to finish inside the top-10 with a little luck.
“We are ready,” McCarty said. “We found some things wrong when we went to the practice. I think we should be better than what we were. We were about a tenth or two off. Hopefully we’ll be right there.”
McCarty doesn’t know what to expect in his first trip to the paperclip-shaped oval but feels he should be able to run inside the top-10.
“As of right now, I don’t really know what to expect,” McCarty explained. “I need to get the car where I want it. If it runs the way I expect it to, we should easily get a top-10. I don’t see a top-10 being a problem when I get the car where I want it to.”
McCarty feels like his car should be good. Having competed at South Boston Speedway this season where he recorded a season high second place finish, McCarty knows he has the talent to race with what will likely be several of the top challengers in the Virginia is for Racing Lovers 300.
“I know if my car can run up front,” McCarty remarked. “I don’t see why we couldn’t win. They come every weekend with top-five stuff. If I can get my car handling the way I need it to and take care of it, we should be up front. We need to get our car as good as some of the others.”
McCarty has recorded 10 top-five finishes at South Boston Speedway in 2013.
